This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, which ones this website uses, why, and how you can control them. It applies to visitors wherever they are located, including the United States, the European Union / EEA, the United Kingdom, and Australia, with jurisdiction-specific detail below. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site's operators. "Similar technologies" include local storage, pixels and tags that perform comparable functions.
How we use cookies
We use a minimal set of cookies. We split them into two groups:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function and to remember your cookie choice. These are always active and do not require consent.
- Analytics (consent required) — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are switched off until you accept them via our cookie banner, using Google Consent Mode.
We do not run advertising, remarketing, cross-context behavioural advertising, or social-media cookies of any kind.

Amazon affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link and visit Amazon, Amazon and its affiliates may set their own cookies to attribute any resulting purchase for commission purposes. Those cookies are governed by Amazon's own Privacy Notice, not this policy.
Your choices
- Cookie banner: accept or reject non-essential cookies when you first visit.
- Change your mind anytime: use the control (also in the footer) to reopen the banner and update your choice.
- Browser controls: most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may affect how the site works.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): where we detect the GPC browser signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of non-essential (analytics) cookies, in addition to any choice made in the banner.
Europe (EU/EEA) and the United Kingdom
If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / UK GDPR) and the ePrivacy rules (the EU ePrivacy Directive and, in the UK, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, "PECR") apply to our use of cookies.
- Prior opt-in consent: non-essential cookies — in our case, the GA4/GTM analytics tags — are not set until you actively accept them in the cookie banner, using Google Consent Mode, which keeps analytics storage and measurement signals in a "denied" state by default.
- Legal basis: the strictly-necessary
rl-consentcookie is processed on the basis of legitimate interests / necessity to operate the site and remember your preference. Analytics cookies are processed on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). - Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw analytics consent at any time using the control.
- Your rights: subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority, or, in the UK, with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
- International transfers: where you consent to analytics cookies, usage data is processed by Google LLC, which may involve transferring data to the United States, under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards.
United States (including California)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) gives you specific rights over your personal information, and residents of other US states with comparable privacy laws may have similar rights.
- We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising — we run no advertising or remarketing cookies.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): we honour the GPC browser signal as a valid opt-out preference request.
- California resident rights: you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion or correction, opt out of sale/sharing (not applicable here, as we do neither), limit use of sensitive personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Australia
The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) apply to our handling of personal information about individuals in Australia. Cookie identifiers and associated usage data can, in some circumstances, constitute "personal information" under the Act.
- Cross-border disclosure (APP 8): where you consent to analytics cookies, usage data is disclosed to Google LLC, an overseas recipient based in the United States.
- Questions or complaints: please contact us first via the contact page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
