Air purification is the pillar where marketing language and real performance drift apart the most. "HEPA" is a specific, testable standard — but "HEPA-type" and "99% filtration" are not the same claim, and a lot of listing copy is written to blur the difference. Understanding what a purifier actually does is the fastest way to stop overpaying for the wrong feature. Two numbers decide almost everything: the CADR rating and the room's square footage. What is a HEPA filter, really?

No. A purifier is one part of a bigger picture that also includes source control (removing what's causing the problem), ventilation, and humidity — a purifier running flat-out in a room with an ongoing source of the pollutant is treating a symptom, not the cause.

Sizing and filter type decide whether an air purifier actually works in your room. Get both right and everything else — color, app, remote — is preference. Get either wrong, and no feature list fixes it.

Match CADR to your room's square footage, not to the coverage number on the box. Most guidance points to four or five air changes per hour for real allergy relief.
