CADR is an independently measured rating, reported separately for smoke, dust and pollen in cubic feet per minute; higher means faster cleaning against those specific particle types, including allergens like pollen and pet dander. Pair it with the filter type: a genuine true HEPA filter is certified to capture 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, including fine PM2.5 pollution, whereas "HEPA-type," "HEPA-like" or "99% HEPA" wording usually signals a cheaper medium that doesn't meet that bar.
